About BRPT

The Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) is an independent, nonprofit certification board that seeks to cultivate the highest professional and ethical standards for polysomnographic technologists by providing an internationally recognized credential. The Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists sets the professional standard worldwide for the credentialing of technologists in the field of sleep medicine.

Examinations/Certificates

RPSGT Examination

The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) Examination assesses the professional competence of practitioners performing polysomnography and associated therapeutic interventions. The Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists™ (BRPT) credentialing program is accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

CPSGT Examination

The Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) is an entry-level certification earned by individuals new to the sleep field. The CPSGT certificate is valid for three years and cannot be renewed. Within that three-year window, CPSGTs are expected to earn the RPSGT credential.

CCSH Examination

The Certification in Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH) exam assesses the professional competence of healthcare providers and educators who work directly with sleep medicine patients, families and practitioners to coordinate and manage patient care while improving outcomes.

Certification Application

Before scheduling an examination appointment, you must have already applied for the exam and received an exam approval email from the BRPT.

If the name/address information you originally provided BRPT is no longer accurate, you must notify the BRPT at least 24 hours before your scheduled exam.

Scheduling

First-time test takers must create a Pearson VUE web account. Appointments may be made up to one business day in advance.

When creating your account and scheduling your test, you will need your Candidate ID number and exam name found on your BRPT exam approval email. Testing times and locations are available on “first come, first served” basis.

After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation letter listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.

NDA Agreement

You will be required to agree to the NDA Agreement that will be presented at the beginning of your exam. Failure to read/accept the agreement within the allotted 3 minutes will result in your exam ending and an accrual of a $100 no-show fee in order to be approved to test again. Please take a moment to review the NDA Agreement now so that you are familiar with it when you sit for your exam.
